My primal story began in December of 2011. I had my second child in October of 2010 and just over a year later I found myself still carrying the pounds I put on during pregnancy. I was overweight, unmotivated, sluggish, and just plain unhealthy. I didn’t know why and blamed my hormones… which wasn’t entirely untrue.
As the new year crept around, I decided my focus was going to be on having a more positive emotional relationship with myself. So, like most of us ladies do, I turned to Pinterest for inspiration. It was my nightly ritual of scrolling through and searching for pretty haircuts, makeup and outfits. I began to put together my pins and boards and really decided that it was time for a better me. This lead to an increased interest in choosing healthier meals and of course, I was off to Pinterestland for inspiration. I came across a recipe that led me to another site that led me to another site (you Pinterest users know exactly what I’m talking about!), which ultimately led me to the discovery of the paleo lifestyle. I had absolutely nothing to lose so I researched as much as I possibly could and decided to give it a shot.
I committed to following the guidelines and advice from Mark Sisson’s Primal Blueprint book on December 19th, 2011. The first two weeks were incredibly difficult but I persisted. By the end of January I had lost a whopping 18 lbs. My energy level was through the roof and my mood was incredibly improved! For me, it was a miracle. I had achieved in just over a month, what I had been wanting to achieve for an entire year! Since beginning my journey I’ve lost 30 lbs and gained my life back. I’ve continued this lifestyle since and although sometimes challenges arise, I cannot envision living any other way.
When I learned that Mark Sisson rolled out his health coaching program I knew I had to enroll. This way of living has literally saved my life and my ultimate goal is to instill that same hope and encouragement to others.
